2014 Safety At Sea Seminar

The 2014 Seminar, February 22 - 24, offered a US Sailing-sanctioned one-day training with an optional hands-on second training day, plus a free third day on-the-water session on use of the Lifesling.

The Sailing Foundation has been offering safety training seminars to Pacific Northwest sailors for decades. As the inventors of the Lifesling, keeping sailors safe is part of our core mission. The 2014 event was held on beautiful Bainbridge Island at the Bainbridge High School and Aquatic Center. This new venue offered several advantages:

  • Modern affordable facilities with a pool and classrooms close together
  • Inexpensive hotels within walking distance
  • Free parking/shuttle to and from ferry
  • Moorage and anchoring close to the venue
  • Space to do firefighting and helicopter rescue training

The curriculum for our seminars is based on requirements established by US Sailing and ISAF. Those attending the Saturday session received a US Sailing certification. Those attending both days also received a ISAF certificate.
